Can I Just Change the Locks?

This is an often asked question of frustrated landlords, “These $#@!*&^%*&^ tenants owe me money, can I just change the locks and throw their stuff out on the curb?”.  I wish it was the at easy!  Many years ago you could do that as a landlord, but you can imagine that this was abused so now we have the tenant eviction process that we talk about today.

If you simply locked out the tenant, you as the landlord could be taken to court for breaking the lease!  You do not want that.
